The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund has been a widely talked about organization lately as there was a new progression in the court case between Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin and former sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The court case had gone on for a few years but Michael and Jim eventually became the winning side. They received a large settlement which amounted to about 4 million dollars.
The other side Joe Arpaio was supposed to go to jail for the negligence of his responsibilities as sheriff, unconstitutional arrest, corrupting his deputies, and targeting both civilians and media based on their race.
Before that could happen, however, Donald Trump swooped in with his newfound power or presidency and pardoned the long criminal records of his friend and after that denied their close relationship despite the overwhelming amounts of evidence including photographs.
The whole ordeal has been quite the ugly thing but that only served to solidify even further hat the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund truly represents. The Frontera Fund was created from the money of the settlement and the reason for its establishment was the ideology of its founders that people should be treated equally in spite of their race and social and financial background.
The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund operates only in the state of Arizona from its headquarters in Phoenix. The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund provides financial support for organizations that take care of minorities in the United States of America.
So far, the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund has the capabilities to support more than a dozen of groups. Most of the organizations work non-profit but all of them have the goal to take care of immigrants and refugees who need assistance such as legal representation, medical attention, and so on.
Some of the organizations help undocumented immigrants to find a place in the country and others work to provide people who work with medical care that they are not able to afford.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin established the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund after they had spent their careers to help minority groups use their rights and to expose both people and companies who have stepped on those rights.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin started working together in journalism many years ago. They have been friends and business partners for decades. Along the way, they established news outlets such as Phoenix New Times.
After the unlawful behavior of the former sheriff of Maricopa County and the fact that Joe Arpaio got away from punishment because of his friend on a high chair, the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund can only work harder.
The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund has vowed to help other groups and organizations right all the wrongs that Joe Arpaio had one and take care of all the people he has hurt. Although he was removed from his position, Joe Arpaio roams free.
That is proof that organizations that take care of minorities are very much needed since people in power pardon criminals instead of condemning them.

Frontera Fund and the First Amendment
Many cases have taken center stage when it comes to defending First Amendment issues, but one which has recently seized the spotlight is that of Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. These two individuals came under fire as a direct consequence of an expose article that they had cowritten for the Phoenix New Times. This work highlighted some of the perceived misdeeds of then-sheriff Joe Arpaio; Arpaio’s response was to file criminal charges against both men, claiming that they had compromised a criminal investigation by disclosing confidential information. Larkin and Lacey challenged the arrest and filed a countersuit, claiming that Arpaio engineered the arrest as retribution for reports he found unflattering against himself and his department. The men ultimately triumphed over these allegations and received an award of several million dollars, which they then used to found the Frontera Fund to aid in defending immigrant rights. Additionally, Larkin and Lacey also spearheaded their own website, “Front Page Confidential” which serves as a news source for those seeking a media alternative to mainstream news sites that may not provide objective coverage of some controversial issues. Thus, Larkin and Lacey’s actions have highlighted some of the ongoing battles which rage below the surface in response to the public’s desire for unfiltered news responses to events, as well as threats to First Amendment rights which could be presented by law enforcement simply out of vindictiveness. Nevertheless, their refusal to be cowed and not to back down has offered hope and inspiration for many who have consistently followed their battle, and also offered positive direction for immigrants aided by their programs. It appears that Lacey and Larkin have just begun to fight!
